After the conference, Sir Keir Starmer highlighted the UK and France's commitment to support Ukraine, where they have formed a coalition called the "Coalition of the Willing." The alliance will prepare to send troops to the front lines in Ukraine if a peace deal is reached.
Ukraine's defense buildup and its economic impact
The £1.6 billion missile deal will strengthen Ukraine's air defences. Sir Keir Starmer said it would "protect Ukraine's infrastructure and put Ukraine in a stronger position after peace is achieved."
The deal is also a positive for the UK economy. It will create 200 new jobs and support 700 UK jobs. The cabinet also said the deal would see the production of 5,000 “Lightweight Multirole Missiles” (LMMs), which will provide defence against Russian drone and missile attacks.

Sir Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a “100-year partnership” agreement in January 2023, under which the UK will provide Ukraine with £3 billion in military equipment each year.
