The month of February is special for people all over the world. Especially for lovers. Various days start from February 7th.
The date dates back to ancient times. In ancient Rome, February 14 was a holiday in honor of Juno, queen of the Roman gods and goddesses. Juno was believed to be the goddess of women and love. Some believe that this is why February 14 is Valentine's Day.
Others say that this day began during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius. At that time, the world-conquering Romans were conquering one state after another. And a strong army was needed for war. But, the problem arose with young women. They did not want to send the man they loved to war.
Then Emperor Claudius thought that men would be more willing to go to war if they didn't get married. He implemented the idea. The emperor banned marriage. He announced that from now on, no young man would be able to get married. Only war was for young men. According to him, if young men got married, who would fight?
But can the youth who are running in the pursuit of love be bound by law? A young man protested this unjust declaration of Emperor Claudius. His name was Saint or Santo Valentine. He was a Roman Catholic priest.
He himself arranged for all the young people who were in love to unite, and married them all. But that tradition could not be maintained for long. Valentine was caught. He was imprisoned.
The emperor was furious at the protest of the infinitely brave Valentine. He was sentenced to death as a punishment for treason. But then another problem arose. Many of his fans would go to see Valentine in prison. They would bring him many kinds of flowers as a sign of their affection. Among them was a blind girl.
It is said that Saint Valentine cured his blindness. Not only did he restore his sight, but he also fell in love with the girl and married her, breaking the priest's law. But then? As soon as such news reached the king, he ordered Valentine's death.
Before going to the gallows, Valentine's last letter to Priya was - 'Love from your Valentine'. And that day was also February 14. In 496 AD, Pope Gelasius first declared this day as 'Valentine's Day'.
However, there is a different opinion on this,

Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is an annual festival celebrated on February 14th to celebrate love and affection. The day is celebrated in many countries around the world, although it is not a public holiday in most countries.
In 269, there was a Christian priest and physician named Saint Valentine in Rome, Italy. He was imprisoned by the then Roman Emperor Clement II on charges of proselytizing. Because at that time, preaching Christianity was prohibited in the Roman Empire. While in prison, he cured the blind daughter of a jailer through medical treatment.
The king, jealous of Saint Valentine's popularity, sentenced him to death. That day was February 14th.
Then in 496, Pope Saint Gelasius I declared February 14th as Valentine's Day in memory of Julius Valentine. There are many such days in the Christian world to commemorate and honor the children of priests and saints.
In the West, the main issue is the issue of enjoyment in all birthday celebrations and religious festivals. Therefore, they do not hesitate to drink alcohol even inside the church. As the spirit of this Christian Valentine's Day was destroyed, the Valentine's Day festival was banned by the French government in 1776. The ruling Puritans in England also declared an administrative ban on the celebration of this day.
In addition, the day has been rejected at various times in Austria, Hungary, and Germany. Recently, in Pakistan, in 2017, a court in that country banned the Valentine's Day festival because it was un-Islamic.
Nowadays, the festival is celebrated with great fanfare in the West. In the UK, half of the population spends around £1 billion on Valentine's Day cards, flowers, chocolates, other gifts and greeting cards, and an estimated 25 million greeting cards are exchanged.
