US President Donald Trump has said that the Deep State has no role in changing the government in Bangladesh.
He made the remarks in response to a question from an Indian journalist on Thursday, accompanied by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, the US President held a bilateral meeting with the Indian Prime Minister. This was the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since taking office for a second term. The White House meeting today discussed a range of issues including trade, tariffs, immigration.
Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to the United States. During the visit, he met with Trump, Elon Musk, and other important US leaders and businessmen.
Regarding Modi, Trump said, "We have a great relationship. However, while the personal relationship is good, there are significant differences between the two leaders on trade."
Trump said the United States will sell billions of dollars in military equipment to India. In the future, Delhi will be supplied with F-35 fighter jets.
The meeting also discussed immigration issues. Trump hopes that India will take back thousands of undocumented immigrants who are in the United States.
Earlier, Modi said he had discussed space, technology and innovation with Trump's close ally Elon Musk. Modi said, "I firmly believe that with Trump, we will work at twice the speed compared to his first term."
