Police have arrested two Awami League leaders in a case filed in connection with an attack on students and the public during an anti-discrimination protest in Bhurungamari, Kurigram. The arrested are Delwar Hossain Dulal (42), general secretary of the Awami League of Ward No. 1 of Shilkhuri Union, and Shahjahan Ali (40), president of the Jubo League of Ward No. 7 of Tilai Union.
They were sent to the Kurigram District Court on Friday (February 7).
Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Helal Mahmud confirmed the matter and said that Delwar Hossain Dulal and Shahjahan Ali were arrested from near Shaljhor Government Primary School and Dhamerhat Bazar, respectively, in a special operation conducted on Thursday afternoon.
He also said that they were arrested in connection with a case filed in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination movement.
