Shibchar police have recovered the slit-throated body of a van driver named Mizan Gazi (20) in Shibchar, Madaripur, 10 hours after he went missing.
On Friday (February 7) morning, locals found a man lying in a state of disarray next to a corn field next to a brick kiln in the Akon Kandi area adjacent to Manikpur intersection in Kadirpur union of Shibchar upazila.
After this, the locals informed the Shibchar Police Station, who recovered the body from the scene.
Two people have been taken into police custody for questioning in this incident.
Van driver Mizan Gazi, son of Lablu Gazi of Umedpur Union in Shibchar Upazila, stayed in Kadirpur at 8 pm last night on a rented van from Panchchar, his family said.
On Thursday afternoon, van driver Mizan Gazi left his house with a van. He did not return home. On Friday morning, locals found the body of van driver Mizan Gazi in a corn field next to a brick kiln in Kadirpur. The locals later informed the police about the body. Later, the police went and recovered the body. At that time, the body had injuries on the neck and various parts of the body due to sharp weapons.
According to family sources, he went missing after leaving for Kanthalbari with a passenger at around 8 pm on Thursday. Mizan's mobile phone was also found switched off. He has not been found since then. On Friday morning, locals found Mizan's body with his throat slit in a corn field in Kadirpur Union.
The deceased's mother, Molina Begum, said, "My son drives a van. He left home in the evening, taking passengers with him and going to Kanthalbari. After that, my son never returned."
Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ratan Sheikh said, "Upon receiving the news, our team went to the spot and recovered the body. Legal action is under process."
