The Forest Department has rescued a dead elephant calf in Rajasthali, Rangamati. The calf was found lying in a ditch in the Chitakhola area of Ogaripara, Gaindya Union, adjacent to the main road in Rajasthali since Monday (February 10) morning.
Hasan, a forest worker in charge of the Raikhali range of the forest department, told this reporter over the phone that at 3:30 pm on Monday, some passersby saw an elephant calf lying there and informed us. Later, a team of ours rescued the calf.
On the other hand, Firoz Al Amin, the range officer of Rajvila Range, told this reporter over the phone, "I have come to know about the elephant calf. My staff has gone to the spot. However, after the rescue, the calf waited for its mother for 24 hours."
We have decided to send the injured elephant cub to Dulahazara Safari Park for advanced treatment after giving it primary treatment. Rajasthali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sajeeb Kanti Rudra told the media that wild elephants are rampaging in the Ogaripara area. The matter has been reported to the Forest Department. The Forest Department will rescue the cub and take action according to the law.
Meanwhile, locals said that when a group of elephants came to the area on Sunday, the locals set fire to their gardens with torches to scare the elephants away. As a result, the group of elephants scattered and ran away. It is believed that the cub fell into the river and could not get up the road, so it could not leave with its mother.
