(Joypurhat) District Representative:
An elderly man named Abdur Razzak (70) was allegedly beaten to death in Panchbibi, Joypurhat, over a woman-related issue. In this incident, Panchbibi police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Joypurhat District Modern Hospital for an autopsy.
The incident took place at 3 pm on Monday, February 3 at Rashidul's house in Uchai Madhyapara village of Atapur union of the upazila. The deceased Abdor Razzak is the son of the deceased Syed Ali of Madhainagar village of Amdai union of Joypurhat Sadar upazila and Rashidul's uncle. According to the family of the deceased and local residents, on Sunday, February 2, Abdur Razzak went to a waz mahfil in Amdai market when Rashidul Islam, son of Abdus Samad of Uchai village, tactfully called him to his house.
He locked the old man in his house and tortured him all night. When Abdur Razzak's death was confirmed, they locked the house in the morning and fled to their family. Locals are whispering that the deceased Abdur Razzak had an immoral relationship with Rashidul's schoolgirl.
Upon receiving the news, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle and additional responsibility Panchbibi Circle) Arif Hossain and Officer-in-Charge of Panchbibi Police Station Kawsar Ali visited the scene.
At this time, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle and Additional Charge Panchbibi Circle) Arif Hossain said, "Initially, it is believed that this was a planned murder. The real incident will be known after the autopsy and further investigation. A case is being prepared by the family of the deceased in this incident."
