Human chain demanding arrest of those involved in kicking and killing pregnant mother's five-month-old twins in Sunamganj

A human chain protest has been held demanding the arrest of those involved in the murder of a pregnant mother's five children after she was kicked by a thug for protesting sexual harassment of a college student.
The human chain program was organized by the aggrieved citizens of Bishwambharpur Upazila of Sunamganj on Sunday afternoon.
During the human chain at Islampur Point in the upazila, speakers at the protest rally said that a college-going girl from an underprivileged family in Islampur village in the upazila was being sexually harassed by Yakul Islam, the married son of influential Deen Islam of the same village. Fearing sexual harassment and kidnapping, the girl left home and took shelter elsewhere and continued her studies at her uncle's house.
On July 19, 2024, when the girl arrived at her village home, Yakul, the scoundrel son of the village's religious leader, Islam, and his associates attempted to kidnap her that night. When they tried to stop her, the girl's five-month-old pregnant mother was beaten and kicked on the floor, bleeding to death.
The next day, when she was taken to the District Sadar Hospital for treatment, the doctor on duty there said that the five-month-old twins, who were in the womb, had died in the womb due to excessive bleeding from the kick.
In this incident, on August 3 of that year, the mother of the college student filed a case in the Judicial Magistrate Court of Sunamganj (Bishambarpur Zone), which took action against three people, including the scoundrel Yakul.  
Although several months have passed since the case was filed, in the name of investigation, the police have not taken any investigation or legal action against the accused despite the police's efforts.
Members of underprivileged, poor families are facing various threats and fears of further kidnapping after filing a case in court.
Speakers at the human chain demanded that the accused be brought to justice and arrested promptly.
Emdadul Haque, Shamsunnahar Begum of Islampur village, former UP member Afzal Uddin Kajal, Abdur Razzak, Zahir Hossain, Abul Kalam, Abul Hashem and people from various walks of life of the area spoke at the event.
