Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that people in white clothes 'tortured and killed' Comilla Jubo Dal leader Touhidul Islam. At the same time, Fakhrul also believes that it is important to investigate whether the Awami League supporters who have infiltrated the government and administration committed the incident.
In a statement sent to the media on Saturday, Mirza Fakhrul further said that Touhidul Islam, the convener of Panchthubi Union Jubo Dal in Comilla Sadar Upazila, was tortured and killed after being taken away from his home by men in white clothes.
The BNP Secretary General said, "Such extrajudicial killings during the interim government supported by political parties participating in the democratic movement after the fall of the Awami fascist government in the student-public movement are unfortunate. The countrymen are shocked by such extrajudicial killings. This killing has created new panic in the public mind. A deep investigation is necessary to determine whether Awami allies in the government and administration are causing bloody incidents by hiding behind a veil."
Mirza Fakhrul said, "No government force can take the law into its own hands. No matter how powerful the perpetrator is, bringing him under the law and giving him exemplary punishment is one of the conditions of the rule of law. Government forces have no right to torture and kill extrajudicially."
In a statement, Mirza Fakhrul strongly condemned, protested and condemned the extrajudicial killing of Touhidul Islam. The BNP Secretary General also demanded that the real culprits involved in the murder be brought to justice.
Referring to the extrajudicial killings during Sheikh Hasina's 15-year rule, the BNP Secretary General said, "This brutality of the Jubo Dal leader of Comilla reminds us of the Awami fascist era. One of the commitments of the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus is to free the nation from disappearances, murders and extrajudicial killings, and to keep the countrymen safe from the fear of state terrorism. But if the Awami fascist misrule is repeated, then the darkness of anarchy will descend on the country again. People will live their days in an unknown fear."
Mirza Fakhrul said that peace and order in society can never be maintained by committing unlawful killings. This shows extreme disregard for the rule of law and pushes the country towards primordial darkness.
