A one-day Akon Md. Zakir Hossain football tournament was held in Bakerganj with two teams consisting of foreign players.
The tournament was held on Tuesday, 18/2/2025 at 4 pm at the Ashwini Kumar Memorial Institution ground in Kakardha, upazila.
The tournament, held under the chairmanship of Md. Abdul Qayyum Khan, President of the proposed Ad Hoc Committee of Kakardha Ashwini Kumar Memorial Institution, was hosted by prominent industrialist, entrepreneur and social worker AM Zakir Hossain, the chief sponsor, N&I Group Director Ishayet Hossain, and eminent social worker Abul Hossain Akon as special guest.
Present at the event, moderated by sportsperson Md. Kaisarul Islam, were Reporters Unity President Danisur Rahman Limon, Durgapasha Union BNP convener Abul Hossain Sikder, Faridpur Union BNP former general secretary Mir Md. Monir, District Jubo Dal deputy office secretary Shahabuddin Sabu, Upazila Jubo Dal joint convener Masum Billah, and others.
Faridpur Union XI won the match 1-0 in a competitive match between Faridpur Union XI and Durgapasha Union XI. Both teams had 14 players from Nigeria and Cameroon.
