Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (PUST) Veterinary Students' Association (VSA) has organized a fresher's reception for the new students admitted to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine discipline in the 2023-24 session. The event was held at the faculty auditorium on Tuesday (February 18) at 4 pm.
The event was presided over by the President of the Veterinary Students' Association, Professor Dr. Milton Talukder, and was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam, as the chief guest, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. S.M. Hemayet Jahan, Treasurer, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif, and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Faisal Kabir as special guests.

The program was moderated by Mujahidul Islam Tanmoy, a student of the 18th batch of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine discipline. At the beginning of the program, the chief guest, Honorable Vice Chancellor, welcomed the new students with flowers. All the teachers and students of this discipline were present.
At this time, Ayesha Akhter Sinha, on behalf of the new students, said, "VSA is creating a platform for us to become humane doctors beyond the textbooks, and we are very happy about it."
Then, Shahriar Islam Rafi, a student of the 2022-23 academic year, told the freshmen, "Where humanity ends, the responsibility of veterinarians begins. Veterinarians are real doctors, because they can not only hear their patients' pain but also feel it."
Addressing the students, the university's student affairs advisor, Professor Dr. Zillur Rahman, said, "Although there are many limitations here, I believe that the students here are capable of overcoming all limitations and establishing themselves as skilled veterinary doctors."
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, Vice-Chancellor Kazi Rafiqul Islam said, "I am proud to be a veterinarian. Without veterinarians in the medical field, many discoveries, starting from vaccines for various diseases, would not have been possible." During this time, he emphasized the importance of various sectors of DVM and gave various directions to inspire the new students and aim for their studies.
In the closing speech of the event, Veterinary Students' Association President Prof. Dr. Milton Talukder said, "We are very happy to welcome all the varsity administration to VSA for the first time in 2025. I believe that VSA will move forward in the days to come through the skillful activities of these new students."
