Miscreants opened fire on activists of the anti-discrimination student movement in Gazipur, injuring one student.
The incident took place in Bhawal Rajbari area around 6:30 pm on Saturday. The injured person has been identified as Mobasher Hossain.
The leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement alleged that the shooting was carried out by Awami League leaders and activists. A leader said, "In the evening, a man came from the direction of the city's Jore Pukurpar on a motorcycle and shot at us and fled. One person was injured after being shot in the right hand."
The injured student said, "We were preparing to go see the injured students after the protest and demonstration program. At that time, shots were fired at us. I am suffering from insecurity due to this."
Earlier, the house of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was attacked and vandalized last night. Several people were injured in clashes between local Awami League leaders and activists and angry crowds.
