Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has called on all citizens to ensure that there are no more attacks on property linked to Sheikh Hasina's family and fascist Awami League politicians or against any citizen under any pretext to immediately restore complete law and order.
He made the call in a statement sent from the Chief Advisor's press wing on Friday.
It said that the anger of those who attacked the properties of (Awami League leaders) is understandable because they and their relatives have been subjected to torture for years during Sheikh Hasina's rule. The government understands that Sheikh Hasina is trying to activate her terrorists even by taking refuge in Delhi.
However, despite understanding this reality, the government is urging all citizens that we must obey the law. We must show the world that we respect the rule of law. Obeying the rule of law is the hallmark of our new Bangladesh, which has distinguished us from the old fascist regime. The foundation of our security and stability cannot be weakened. Any disregard for the law will put the lives and property of citizens at risk.
He said, "To realize the dreams of the citizens who stood up against Sheikh Hasina's rule in July and August, we must prove to ourselves and our friends around the world that we are committed to justice. Respectful of each other's citizens and human rights, and steadfast in upholding the law. Strugglers for a just new Bangladesh should not do anything that creates an opportunity to compare the behavior of current institutions with the previous authoritarian regime."
Dr. Yunus said, "Our security forces are aware of this. The government is working to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of the lives and properties of all Bangladeshis. If anyone engages in provocative activities to create unrest in the country, the law enforcement forces will take immediate and strict action. Those who try to create any chaos will be brought to justice."
He further said, "The fascist leaders have left the country in dire straits. As long as we remain vigilant and maintain the moral high ground, they will not have a chance to return. Attacking their properties will give them an opportunity to attract international attention and try to spread their fabricated stories. We are bringing them to justice for their crimes against humanity. The whole world is with us. Any deterioration in law and order will send the wrong message to the world."
Calling on all citizens of the country, the Chief Advisor said, "Let us build a country where all Bangladeshis can live with security and dignity. For this, we must maintain self-control. We must use our strength in constructive and peaceful initiatives for positive change."
