In Baufal Upazila of Patuakhali, a peace march, a human chain rally and a public complaint filing program were organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement to protest the increasing violence, extreme deterioration of law and order and the insecurity of the common people. Students of various educational institutions participated in the program organized with the slogan "No conflict, I want peace". The students observed this program for three hours on Monday (January 3). Yesterday, Monday, at 11 am, the students took out a protest march from the Upazila Parishad premises. The march ended in front of the Public Field Road after circumambulating the main road of the municipality. Later, the students held a peace rally there. Muhammad Ruhul Amin, Muntasir Tasrip, Farhan, Rupai and many others spoke at the peace rally moderated by Ayeshatunnesa Barsha, the organizer of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. At that time, the students said that the recent incidents of violence, murder, extortion, encroachment and torture on the common people are increasing day by day. We have not given blood to see this day. We call on the administration to improve the law and order situation as soon as possible. The students criticized the administration for playing a silent role in the incidents of one crime after another.
After the rally, students filed 69 complaints with Bauphal police station regarding the deterioration of the law and order situation. The complaints demanded an investigation into various criminal activities and bringing the culprits to justice. If the situation does not improve, the students announced that they would take stricter measures in the future. In this regard, Bauphal police station sub-inspector Mahbubur Rahman said that students have filed 69 written complaints alleging the deterioration of the law and order situation. He also said that legal action will be taken on the complaints.
