Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the interim government, visited the historic Rangkut Banashram Buddhist Monastery in Ramu, Cox's Bazar.
On Monday, February 17, Mr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain Ramu, Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, visited the historic Rangkut Banashram Buddhist pilgrimage site. During this time, the Chief Director of the pilgrimage site, K. Sri Jyotisen Mahather, explained the history and importance of the historic Rangkut Buddhist pilgrimage site to the Religious Advisor.

The religious advisor said that in 1983/84, he came to visit this Rangkut Buddhist Banashram Vihara during his Masters studies at Chittagong University and also wrote 3 articles about the history of this Rangkut Banashram in Bangladesh Times. After a long 40/42 years, I came to visit again today and was very impressed by the endless progress and beauty of this Vihara and promised government grants to the head of the organization, Shri Jyotisen Mahathera, for the development of the Ashram and Vihara. Along with this, many senior officials of the administration and local leaders including the Ramu Upazila Nirbahi Officer were present.
