Mashiur Rahman Russell, Staff Reporter:
To stop oppression, torture and tyranny from society and the state, the laws of the Quran must be implemented. The country was liberated to establish the people's right to vote and rice. But the Awami League came to power and took away the people's right to vote. In 2018, daytime voting was held at night, and in 2024, people did not go to the polling stations. Those who went to the polling stations were told - the vote has been cast, you do not have to vote anymore.
Professor Mujibur Rahman, the Nayeb-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of parliament, made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the district workers' conference at the central Eidgah ground in Jhalakati town on Saturday (February 15) at 11 am.
He said, "Voting democracy must be revived. They promised to sell rice for 10 taka but sold it for 70 taka. Those who killed people in July-August 2024, who said they would not leave the country, could not even find a rat hole to escape. There are many good Islamic personalities around Jhalakathi, such as Allama Delwar Hossain Sayeedi (may Allah have mercy on him), the Pir of Charchina, the Pir of Charmonai and the Pir of Nesarabad. They are serving Islam. The soil of Jhalakathi has become a base of Islam. InshaAllah, the tide will rise in favor of Islam here in the coming days."
He further said, "The previous government has oppressed us a lot. They banned Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir. But in just four days, Allah has banned tyranny and expelled it from the country. To build Bangladesh beautifully, Allah's law must be implemented. There may be mistakes in human laws, but there is no mistake in Allah's law. The day Allah's law is implemented, oppression, torture and oppression will stop from Bangladesh. Islam is a light, and everything else is darkness. When light comes, darkness does not remain, but currently darkness still prevails. We want to establish Allah's law. We want to eradicate all injustice, oppression, oppression and oppression from Bangladesh. For this, the freedom movement must continue."
He said, "In the past, we have seen secularism, nationalism, materialism, imperialism, capitalism and socialism. No ideology has been able to bring peace. As a result, the entire nation has become disillusioned and has lost faith in democracy. Only Islamic ideology can bring peace. For this, a ballot box should be set up with all the scholars and ulama."
He further said, "The previous government killed and buried democracy through a farce election. They closed all newspapers and media outlets and kept a few media outlets that followed them open. They cancelled the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami. It has not been returned till now. We urge the government to immediately return the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami."
The conference was presided over by District Ameer Advocate Md. Hafizur Rahman. The moderators were Nayeb Ameer Advocate BM Aminul Islam and Secretary Principal Md. Faridul Haque. The speakers were Central Executive Council Member and Assistant Secretary General Advocate Muazyam Hossain Helal, Central Majlish-e-Shura and Working Council Member, Barisal Metropolitan Ameer Principal Zahir Uddin Muhammad Babar, Barisal Regional Team Member AKM Fakhruddin Khan Razi, Barisal District Ameer Professor Mohammad Abdur Jabbar, Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation Vice President Laskar Mohammad Taslim, Pirojpur District Ameer Md. Sayem among others.
