Students and the public vandalized the residence of former Barisal City Corporation mayor and metropolitan Awami League president Sadiq Abdullah in the early hours of Thursday.
Around 1 am, hundreds of activists of the anti-discrimination student movement gathered in front of Sadiq Abdullah's residence on Kalibari Road in Barisal. At one point, they tried to demolish the building with a bulldozer.
However, members of the army quickly arrived at the scene and were able to temporarily calm the student crowd. However, at around 1:30 am, the student crowd began demolishing parts of the building again.
The same incident happened at the house of Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu. The students and the crowd demolished his house with a bulldozer.
They kept chanting 'My brother is in the grave, why is the murderer outside?'
The angry student crowd vandalized the building and hit the lower part of the building with a bulldozer several times, damaging the lower part of the building.
