The martyrs' families have blocked Shahbagh with three demands, including justice for the murders committed during the student uprising. They have announced that they will not lift the blockade unless Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus comes to meet them and have threatened to withdraw the case.
Members of the martyr's family blocked Shahbagh intersection from 10 am on Thursday. They continued the blockade until 2 pm. As a result, massive traffic jams have been created on the surrounding roads.
The demands of the martyr's family members are: 1. Demanding the speedy arrest and trial of every murderer. 2. State recognition of those who gave their lives and the delegation of the martyr's family wants to meet with Chief Advisor Dr. Yunus.
Abul Hasan, father of Shaheed Shahriar Alvi, was a member of the martyr's family delegation in Mirpur on August 4. He said, Shahriar Hasan Alvi was shot in Mirpur on August 4 in the July murder. The bullet pierced his stomach and exited. I could not meet him at the end of his life. Six months have passed since such a brutal murder, but I cannot see justice for the murder of my son. We have filed a case in the international tribunal, this tribunal has become a theater. They have not yet been able to collect video footage. However, the murderers are being allowed to leave the country safely.
On January 26, Dr. Yunus went to his residence to meet the martyr's family. However, they could not meet him. Shaheed Imam Hossain's brother Rabiul Islam said, "We were supposed to meet the chief advisor on January 30, but they did not meet him. So where will the martyr's family go? Dr. Yunus will come here today. Otherwise, we, the martyr's family, will withdraw all the cases."
