A 7-day street drama festival was organized jointly by Bangladesh Group Theatre and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture. On the third day of the festival, on Tuesday afternoon, four street plays were staged at the Central Shaheed Minar. The play 'Parash Pathar' by Banalata Natya Sangsad of Jhenaidah was staged.
The play is written and directed by Farhad Hossain Johnny. Rohan, Arifa Jahan Sweety, Tanvir Ahmed, Piyush, Md. Apu, Sayeed Islam Adar, Saiful Islam Shanto, Hafizur Rahman Palash and many others acted in various roles in the play.
Regarding the play Path, Pathik Shahidul, the party leader of Banalata Natya Sangsad, said, "This play is not just the story of a family, it is a mirror of our society. This play raises the question of whether we have been able to give them the space they deserve as much as we talk about transgender people."
A mother holds onto her child, wanting to raise him like a human being. But society? Are they willing to see this child as a human being?
This play is not just about the plight of transgender people, it is a story of struggle—a mother's struggle, her child's struggle, and a brutal question to our society.
"I want you to not just report, but think. We all have to take responsibility for changing society. If this drama can change one person's thinking, that will be our biggest victory!"
