Arson, vandalism at actress Shaon's house
Actress and producer Meher Afroz Shaon's village house in Jamalpur has been set on fire.
The incident occurred at a house located adjacent to Narundi Railway Station in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila around 6 pm on Thursday.
It is known that a section of the local student community set the fire.
This house is the family property of Shaon's father, Engineer Mohammad Ali. He was an Awami League candidate from Jamalpur-5 (Sadar) constituency in the 12th National Parliament election. His wife Begum Tahura Ali was a member of parliament for the reserved women's seat during the 1996-2001 and 2009-2014 terms. Shaon himself was also a candidate for the Awami League's reserved women's seat.
Fire service authorities said they reached the scene and are trying to bring the fire under control. However, the extent of the damage and the actual cause behind the arson are yet to be confirmed.
