Although it has been almost two months of the year, the books have not yet reached the students. The attendance of students in schools has gradually started decreasing due to the lack of books. It has been seen in some educational institutions that many students are distracted from school and are involved in sports. Many others have become involved in various jobs including garages and hotels. On the other hand, students are also seen addicted to playing games on smartphones.
Although all the books were supposed to reach the students by February, most schools still haven't received enough books. This is causing classes to be held at a snail's pace. How long can students be held with rote learning? How long can they be held without books? A primary school teacher, who wishes to remain anonymous, sighed and lamented.
He further told journalist AA Abir Akash - Those who are being brought to school by calling their guardians are also becoming inattentive due to lack of books. As a result, their regular attendance at school is not being maintained. Even if this continues, the students will go to the next class with a major learning deficit. They also have no facilities for studying at home.
Although no books have arrived in primary schools yet, only four books have been provided in secondary schools. In this, they have to give leave after taking classes for four subjects. Students cannot be retained in class due to the lack of books. This will cause long-term harm to students. The SSC candidates of 2026 are facing the most serious harm. Although it has been two months of the year, not all the books have been received yet.
NCTV's book distribution controller Md. Hafizur Rahman told journalist AA Abir Akash that we are printing class 10 books on priority basis. Although he admitted that there is a shortage of books. He also said - 3.5 million books are being printed per day as per the capacity. 18.25 crore books remain to be printed. It will take another two months for this. We are continuing our efforts.
According to the information, if it takes another two months to get the books, the books will be available by the end of March or the beginning of April. When will the students take the first interim exam? How will the students fill this gap? What will happen to the SSC examinees? Hafizur Rahman does not have the answer to such questions.
This has caused extreme anxiety and frustration among parents.
