Students, including ulama and mashaykhs of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, protested until late Wednesday night in Sunamganj, protesting Sheikh Hasina's speech.
The protesters vandalized the murals of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the premises of Sunamganj Municipality, Heritage Museum, Muktijoddha Bhaban, District Council and Sadar Upazila. At the same time, the protesters demolished the structure of the Dangka Shah shrine in Hasannagar of the city.
The angry students and the public also vandalized the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the premises of the Upazila and District Freedom Fighters Complex in the Jail Road area of the district town.
Late at night, students of the anti-discrimination student movement, including ulama and shaykhs, gathered at the municipality premises on motorcycles.
The students then removed the black polythene and began to destroy the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
