Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed made this announcement while briefing reporters on Tuesday about the door-to-door data collection campaign.
He also said that information about 1.5 million 23 thousand dead voters has been collected during the update process. Their names will be removed from the voter list.
The commission secretary said the goal was to register 6.1 million new voters this time.
The Election Commission began updating the voter list by going door to door on January 20.
