Hannan took over as the assistant selector to chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu on February 12 last year. He had a contract with the BCB until 2026.
He resigned on Sunday (February 2) afternoon.
This is a former national team cricketer.
However, he made this decision less than a year later.
BCB sources said that Hannan Sarkar's resignation was on a one-month notice. He himself has confirmed that he has resigned from the BCB.
Hannan was appointed with a salary of 125,000 taka.
But he did not find the salary attractive. The former cricketer wants to build a career in coaching. Hannan will start his coaching career with the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL). He said, 'I submitted my resignation yesterday. I will remain (as a selector) until the end of this month. Now I will focus on coaching with the DPL. Talks are going on with a few teams, let's see now.'
Hannan Sarkar said, "The position of selector is honorable but not financially secure. The salary is low and the appointment is on a contractual basis, so this type of job is not suitable for me. I am interested in building a career in coaching, especially with the help of our mentor like Mohammad Salauddin Bhai. Hopefully, I can become the coach of the national team one day."
