The Public Administration Reforms Commission has proposed to declare four old divisions in the country as provinces, but Sylhet has not been included in it. This decision has caused deep anger and disappointment among the people of Sylhet. For a long time, the people of Sylhet have been discriminated against due to lack of development and administrative facilities, and now the recommendation not to bring Sylhet under the province is completely unacceptable.
If Bangladesh is divided into 4 provinces and Sylhet is not recognized as a separate province, it will be a serious mistake for the government. This will lead to widespread protests among the people of Sylhet at home and abroad, which can pose a danger to the government. The economic contribution of the expatriate population of Sylhet plays an important role in the country's foreign exchange reserves, which may also be damaged.
The discrimination so far has deprived the people of Sylhet of their just rights. Sylhet has not seen economic and social development since independence, yet Sylhet's contribution to the country's development is immense. But Sylhet's administrative facilities, development projects and infrastructure have been neglected.
If this discrimination continues, the people of Sylhet will face an existential crisis. History is witness, the people of Sylhet have repeatedly protested for their rights and will do so again if necessary. Now is the time, the people of Sylhet must unite and join the movement to achieve their demands in unity.
The condition of Sylhet's roads, hospitals, educational institutions and other basic facilities is very bad. International flights have not started at Sylhet Airport. Will the people of Sylhet only give, but never get the facilities they need?
The Public Administration Reform Commission's anti-Sylhet recommendations are unacceptable. The opinions of the people of Sylhet should not be ignored. The heritage, contributions and aspirations of Sylhet should be respected. It will not be accepted if Sylhet is excluded from the list of provinces.
● We do not accept this unjust recommendation, we will not accept it.
● Sylhet will be a province—this is our final demand!
