Pirojpur Correspondent:
Nesarabad Upazila BNP convener and former Upazila Parishad chairman Md. Wahiduzzaman Wahid said, Bangladesh is now independent and free from tyranny. Bangladesh has now become newly independent. We do not want - in this independent new Bangladesh, our current generation, new generation and future generation - to not learn any wrong history.
He made this statement while speaking as the chief guest at the annual sports and cultural competition and award distribution ceremony of Adarsh Secondary School, Nesarabad on Wednesday (February 5) afternoon.
He said, "Through a radical change in the education system, we will do whatever is needed to renovate our country's educational institutions. Where new buildings are needed, where schools need to renovate their grounds, and how to arrange grounds in schools that do not have grounds. We have big plans for our education system with all of these."
Wahiduzzaman Wahid said, "For the past 17 years, the Awami League autocratic government has distorted the history of Bangladesh in textbooks and taught our children the wrong history through partyization and politicization in educational institutions."
The BNP leader said that there is no alternative to sports for mental development. Therefore, students should come to the playground along with their studies instead of getting addicted to mobile phones and drugs.
He further said, "If BNP comes to power in the future through free and fair elections, BNP wants a radical change in the education system of Bangladesh. We want the correct history of Bangladesh to be included in the textbooks through new reforms and our children to learn and know that history. We will be able to build a healthy nation by combining everything from studies to sports to provide institutional education to our children."
The school's founder Md. Jasim Uddin Akon, respected member of Upazila BNP Shahidul Islam, Upazila BNP joint convener Atiqul Islam Litu, Azaharul Islam Tutul, Sohel Rana Mridha, and Swarupkathi Press Club president Md. Golam Mostafa were special guests at the school's annual sports, cultural and award distribution ceremony presided over by Md. Babul Akhtar, headmaster of Adarsh Secondary School.
Also present at the event were Pirojpur District Volunteer Party member Md. Mashiur Rahman, Upazila Chhatra Dal President Imran Hossain Sajeeb, youth leader Md. Mizanur Rahman and student leader Mahafuzur Rahman Ratul along with other leaders.
