A case has been filed against 6 people, including former MP of Faridpur-4 constituency Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon, former Sadarpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Kazi Shafiqur Rahman and Shahidul Islam Babul, for distributing leaflets in Sadarpur, Faridpur, which read "Trust in Sheikh Hasina", committing treason. In addition, a case has been filed against 10/12 unknown people. On February 3 (Monday), Sadarpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Mamunur Rashid filed the case as the plaintiff.
It is worth mentioning that on February 2 (Sunday) at around 6 pm, a man named Prince Chowdhury (42) was beaten up by the local people while distributing leaflets with the words "Trust in Sheikh Hasina" in Joybangla Bazar of the upazila and handed over to the police. A case was filed against a former member of parliament, two former upazila chairmen of the upazila as accomplices in such propaganda, and a case was also filed against the young man named Prince Chowdhury who distributed the leaflets.
Sadarpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Mamunur Rashid said that Prince Chowdhury, who distributed the leaflets, has already been arrested. A drive is underway to arrest the remaining accused.
Sadarpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. A. Motaleb Hossain said, Sheikh Hasina left the country after the fall of the government on August 5. Since then, the accused have been committing treasonous acts in various ways. Sadarpur Police Station is aware that no one else in the upazila can commit treasonous acts.
