Jhalakathi Correspondent:- In Jhalakathi, a Jubo Dal leader is in trouble after filing a case against former MP Amir Hossain Amur's personal assistant Kiron and other Awami leaders. On Sunday morning, at a press conference at the Jhalakathi Press Club Hall Room, Nalchiti Upazila Jubo Dal leader Mayel Ahmed alleged that he has been subjected to extreme harassment since he filed a case against fascism.
Mayel Ahmed said that on January 8, 2025, he filed a case (case number 1/25) against some local fascist groups. He alleged that this group was involved in sabotage, extortion and illegal occupation. He filed the case against former MP Ami Hossain Amur's personal assistant Fakhrul Majid Kiron, Monir Hossain Talukder, Krishak League Kulkathi Union President Swapan Samaddar and many others.
He accused Nalchit Awami League leader Yunus Fakir, Jubo League leader Monir Chowdhury, Ward No. 4 Awami League leader Semal Mondal, and Ward No. 1 Awami League leader Hanif of seizing government property and selling it for about 3.5 million taka and of being involved in attacks and intimidation of political opponents. Mayel Ahmed said that the accused in the case are now threatening to kill him.
Regarding the police, Mael Ahmed said that some police officers of Nalchiti Police Station are working as collaborators of this fascist group and are trying to cover up the case. He specifically mentioned Shahidul Islam, the second officer of Nalchiti Police Station, whom he called a broker of the fascists. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, who has not yet taken any effective action regarding the case.
At the press conference, the Jubo Dal leader demanded that false propaganda against him should be stopped. Action should be taken against the accused police officers as per Section 29 of the Police Act. A fair investigation of the case and legal action against the fascist group should be ensured.
