A press conference has been held to protest the false case of conspiracy and extortion against Noakhali Municipality BNP President Abu Naser.
The press conference was organized under the banner of the municipal BNP at the Noakhali Press Club auditorium on Monday (February 3) afternoon.
At the press conference, BNP leader Abu Naser said that he has been involved in BNP politics for a long time. He has been a victim of many false and unfounded cases during the previous government. When he was supposed to be at ease after the fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina government, at that very time, a person named Abdul Karim Mukta, influenced by someone, filed an extortion case against him at Sudharam Police Station. The case alleges that he demanded five lakh taka from the person on his orders.
At the press conference, BNP leader Abu Naser also said that he is an established businessman. He owns money and assets through his family. He has never demanded donations or donations from anyone even for the needs of the party, but has spent his own money for politics without any hesitation.
Abu Naser said, "A group is conspiring to humiliate me politically and socially by filing a false extortion case against me at the police station in an attempt to defame me out of jealousy over my political reputation and position,
In response to a question from journalists, he said, "Those who were not on the streets in the past days in the movement against the fascist government, those who harmed the party by colluding with the fascist government are now plotting against me. A false case has been filed against me at the police station at the behest of that group. If any journalist can prove the allegations of extortion against me with evidence, he promised never to do politics again." At that time, he requested the officer-in-charge of Sudharam police station to conduct a proper investigation into the case filed against him and absolve him from the false case.
At the press conference, Advocate Abdur Rahman, the recently former general secretary of Noakhali district BNP, said, "This is a conspiracy. Those who have been inactive in politics for so long are now trying to deactivate active politicians at the right time." The extortion case brought against Abu Naser is completely baseless. He has sacrificed a lot for BNP politics, Abu Naser is the most persecuted leader in this city, ignoring the fear of cases, attacks, disappearances and murders of the fascist government, he sponsored and promoted BNP politics in the past. We strongly protest against this false case against him.
Also present at the press conference were Upazila BNP President Salimullah Bahar Hiron, General Secretary VP Jasim Uddin, District Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Amin Khan, and leaders of various levels of Sadar Upazila and Noakhali Municipality BNP.
It is worth noting that an extortion case was filed at Sudharam Police Station last Friday based on a fight between two groups of BNP supporters over the incident of obstructing work due to a dispute between two parties over the work of filling the soil of a housing project of the National Housing Authority in the Kazi Colony area of the district town of Maijdi. Abu Naser was named as the number one accused in that case.
