Sundarbans Day was celebrated in Paikgachha at the initiative of the Youth Forum to protect the Sundarbans. On Friday morning, a rally and discussion meeting was held at the Paikgachha Upazila premises under the slogan "Save the Sundarbans, Stop Plastic Pollution".
Under the initiative of Youth for Sundarbans Transformation and under the overall supervision of Sundarbans Academy, the discussion meeting was presided over by Upazila Youth Forum President Md. Rakibul Islam. Speakers included Asaduzzaman Mamun, Chanda Sultana, Krishna Chakraborty, Alifa Sultana, Tanjila Sultana, Mujahid Islam, Tania Sultana, Rabiul Khan, Monowar Hossain Bappi, Abdus Samad, Tanvir Ahmed, Arpita Sarkar, among others.
At this time, the speakers said that World Valentine's Day revolves around our Sundarbans. The Sundarbans are our national resources. The Sundarbans protect us from natural disasters. It is our moral responsibility to protect the Sundarbans, which are our pride, nature, and a symbol of tradition. The Sundarbans are a potential coastal mangrove forest in Bangladesh and one of the largest mangrove forests in the world. At this time, the speakers strongly demanded that the government celebrate the Sundarbans Day nationally.
