Students of Rangpur's Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI) held a press conference again demanding the return of its founding name.
Students held a press conference in front of the university's main gate at 11:30 am on Monday (February 10) demanding the restoration of their university's founding name, Rangpur University.
At this time, the students said that despite taking all measures including protest marches, press conferences, and submitting memorandums demanding this reinstatement, we are not getting any benefit. Therefore, if our demands are not met within the next 7 working days, we will observe a strict program like a complete shutdown.
The students also said that on February 5, agitating students demolished Sheikh Hasina's inaugural plaque at the university and declared the name Rangpur.
It is worth noting that the university, which was established as Rangpur University during the caretaker government in 2008, was renamed Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur by the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
