Golam Kibria Hasan of Chhatak Police Station of Sunamganj District Police has been transferred to Khulna Range.
He was transferred in the public interest in a notification signed by Additional IG Administration Abu Naser Mohammad Khaled, who is also in charge of Police Headquarters, on Wednesday (February 5).
The notification directed the transferred officers of the Sunamganj District Police in Sylhet Range from Chhatak Police Station to obtain their clearance by February 15 to join the Khulna Range DIG's office. Otherwise, the next day, February 16, will be considered as a stand release immediately.
Golam Kibria joined the Bangladesh Police Force as a Hasab Sub-Inspector in 2005. He served as an outpost in-charge at various police outposts in Habiganj district of Sylhet range, including Dhaka Metropolitan Police, RAB, and as a police inspector (investigation) at Madhabpur police station in the same district. Kibria earned huge amounts of money through bribery and corruption wherever he took postings.
Golam Kibria Hasan was working as a police inspector (investigation) at the Bishambaharpur police station of the Sunamganj district police during the rule of the fallen Awami League government. Due to various irregularities, bribery, corruption, abuse of power, and close ties with border smugglers, he was transferred again as a police inspector to the Tahirpur Circle (Tahirpur-Jamalganj) office of the district.
Then, while working at the Tahirpur Circle Office, he secretly formed deep friendships with a few leaders and activists of the Upazila Awami League in the business of extortion, border smuggling, and mineral sand and stone theft in order to earn extra income. He was again transferred to the Dirai Police Station of the district as a Police Inspector (Investigation).
Kibria Hasan continued to waste time by not joining the transferred Dirai Police Station. At one point, through the business of lobbying, he started claiming to be a victim of discrimination as a police inspector of the BNP faction.
On September 20, 2024, he took up posting at Kankit Good Station as the OC of Chhatak Police Station, a police station known for being an expatriate industrial city, border smuggling, and crime-prone police station.
Rumors have been circulating within the police force itself about Golam Kirria Hasan, who is a stenographer-cum-computer operator at the Jessore District Superintendent of Police's office and a TI working at the Jagannathpur Traffic Police of the Sunamganj District Police, who secured the posting of OC at Chhatak Police Station overnight.
Since joining Chhatak Police Station, allegations have been leveled against him including bribery, corruption, cases, arrest and trade, secret collusion with leaders and activists of the fallen Awami government who were absconding in cases, claiming to be the OC of the BNP family and demanding immoral benefits from various quarters, extortion from extortion gangs on the Surma waterway and even from various illegal sources of income, border smuggling, escape of arrested accused, and feasting at the house of an Awami League leader. On January 22 of this year, two Dhaka-bound buses in the Chhatak Police Station area were involved in mass robberies, thefts, muggings, and an increase in the spread of drug dealers, and the law and order situation in the Chhatak Police Station area began to deteriorate. After these issues came to light, the intelligence agencies and the police headquarters launched a secret investigation.
