The video of Sunamganj Superintendent of Police SP A. F. M. Anwar Hossain Khan's boasting has gone viral on social media at home and abroad.
The incident took place at the Sunamganj Police Superintendent's office on Wednesday (February 5) afternoon.
The SP made such a boast when the leaders and activists of the People's Rights Council went to meet him and called him "Sahib" instead of "Sir". During this time, he also threatened to throw out a leader of the People's Rights Council by pushing him by the throat.
Later, at a press conference at the temporary office of the People's Rights Council at Hossain Bakht Square in the municipal city, the party's leaders and activists demanded the withdrawal of the SP within 24 hours.
During the press conference, they complained that the Chhatra League attacked the leaders of the People's Rights Council in 2023. They went to the Superintendent of Police's office on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the case. The SP got angry when he called them Saheb instead of addressing them as 'Sir'.
At that time, Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain Khan said, "If I quit my job today, I will be able to hold elections tomorrow. I have contact with the biggest leaders of BNP."
At that time, he got agitated and vented his anger on the leader of the People's Rights Council, MS Masum Ahmed, and asked him to take him out by the neck. The SP kept saying, "You know what I can do, what can't!"
On Wednesday night, Sunamganj Ganadhikar Parishad leader Timon Chowdhury said, "We went to talk about the case. But when I called him 'Saheb' instead of 'Sir', he got extremely angry with me, abused me in obscene language and assaulted me. Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance-Ops) Tapas Ranjan Ghosh was present at the SP's office during the incident.
