A civil sanitation worker of Lebukhali CMH named Md. Bakiar Molla was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and CNG in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi.
The accident occurred on Thursday (February 6) during Fajr prayers on the Barisal-Patuakhali regional road in the area adjacent to Dapadpiya Union Degree College in Bharatkathi village of the upazila. At that time, CNG driver Md. Babu and passenger Ariful Islam were seriously injured. The injured Ariful has been admitted to Lebukhali CMH and CNG driver Babu to a hospital in Dhaka.
The injured CNG driver Md. Babu is the son of Abdus Salam of Lebukhali area of Dumki upazila. The deceased is a civilian cleaner (CS number-324745, Lebukhali Cantonment) and the injured is Ariful Islam, a civilian cleaner (CS number-325213, same Cantonment). The detailed addresses of these two people are not known.
According to police sources, Lebukhali CMH civil sanitation workers Bakiyar Molla and Ariful Islam were returning to Lebukhali from Barisal on CNG after buying vegetables. On the way, the CNG vehicle collided head-on with a truck at that place. Bakiyar, Ariful and the CNG driver Babu were seriously injured. On receiving the information, a team from Bakerganj Fire Service Station reached the spot and rescued them and took them to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty declared Bakiyar Molla dead. Later, Ariful was taken to Lebukhali CMH and the CNG driver
Babu has been taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Abdus Salam confirmed the incident. He said that legal action is under process in this incident.
