Monowar Babu, Ghoraghat (Dinajpur) Correspondent:
To preserve the tradition and spread it among the next generation, Dinajpur's Ghoraghat Senjuti Pre-Cadet School has organized a Pitha festival. Pitha is an integral part of Bengali life and culture in winter. There is no Bengali whose tongue does not water at the mere mention of the name Pitha. Pitha was getting lost in the tide of various fast foods, burgers at stalls and various types of pizza.
The Pitha festival was inaugurated by the school's Managing Director Sajjad Hossain Parvez and the Chairman of the Board of Directors Shahnewaz at the Senjuti Pre-Cadet School premises in the city on Sunday (February 2) at 11 am. It continued till 1 pm.
At that time, the school's managing director Sajjad Hossain Parvez said, "The Pitha festival is no longer held in that way due to various reasons including social and economic factors. At least because of this festival, we can smell and taste the Pitha Puli of our village. We can present it to the new generation. This is a good thing."
The teachers and organizers of the school have brought about 50 varieties of pitha to this year's festival. These include - Bhapa pitha, Chitai pitha, Jhal pitha, Chiruni pitha, Jamai pitha, Narikel Sundari pitha, Nakshi pitha, Jhal Puli pitha, Tele Fhaja pitha, Puli pitha, Gajarer Ful pitha, Booter Halua pitha, Taler Bada, Dudh Chitai pitha and other pitha with exotic names. At this time, the principal of the school, Asha Akhter, introduced the names of various pitha to the young students.
Meanwhile, a cultural program was held in the festival grounds with various types of colorful cakes.
