Locals have arrested 6 members of a pickup truck and a cow thief gang along with 3 cows in Singair, Manikganj and handed them over to the police.
They were arrested from the southern Dhalla area of Dhalla union of the upazila on Sunday (January 2) morning. The arrested are: Ratan Reza (35), son of the deceased Abdus Sattar Mia of Imandipur village in Savar upazila of Dhaka district, Khorshed Alam (42), son of MA Malek of Talbag area of Savar, Abdus Sattar (51), son of Shukur Ali of the same locality, Rubel Ahmed (28), son of Kamal Mia of Majidpur village, Roni Ahmed (24), son of Monir Hossain of the same locality, Md. Johny (22), son of Jamal Uddin of Lalmohan village in Char Fashion upazila of Bhola district.
According to local sources, the locals became suspicious when they stole cows from the Royal area of Dhamrai upazila in neighboring Dhaka district and fled via Singair in a pickup truck in the early hours of the morning. Later, they were arrested after extensive questioning as the pickup truck did not have a number plate. The locals handed over the arrested people to the police.
In this regard, Singair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zahidul Islam Jahangir confirmed the arrest of 6 people and 3 cows. But the theft cannot be confirmed yet. He said that the information is being verified.#####
Robbery of gold ornaments along with cash in Singair

Robbers robbed a jewellery merchant named Gopal Chandra Das (27) of gold and silver cash after leaving him with bloody wounds in Singair, Manikganj. The merchant is the son of Gokul Chandra Das of Jamirtta Hut area of Jamirtta Union of the upazila. On Saturday afternoon, the jewellery merchant's father filed a written complaint with Singair Police Station.
The incident took place at Charchamta Mittirchar in Chandahar Union of the upazila at around 6:30 pm last Friday.
Locals rescued him and admitted him to the Singair Upazila Health Complex.
According to the complaint, Gopal Chandra Das was returning home from his Ankita Jewellers in Anandabazar on Friday evening on a motorcycle. On the way, four robbers stopped him and attacked him, causing bloody injuries. At that time, they robbed him of 37 gold ornaments, 400 silver ornaments and 220 thousand taka in cash, including a total of 57 lakh 70 thousand taka in his bag. The victim said that he recognized one of the four robbers in this incident.
In this regard, Singair Police Station OC Md. Zahidul Islam Jahangir said, "The complaint has been given to the in-charge of the Shantipur Police Investigation Center. Legal action will be taken if the truth of the incident is found."
