A man named Jamal Sheikh (30) has been arrested in Manikganj Sadar Upazila on charges of secretly marrying a stepdaughter and spreading intimate photos and videos on social media.
Manikganj Sadar Police arrested him from the Bil-Dawli area of Dighi Union in Sadar Upazila on Saturday (February 1) morning.
The arrested Jamal Sheikh is the son of the deceased Kabed Ali Sheikh of Malir Hat area of Ratandia Union in Kalukhali, Rajbari.
Police said that in 2013, Jamal Sheikh married the girl's mother as a family. After that, Jamal Sheikh started living in the Bil-Dawli area of Manikganj Sadar Upazila with his wife, stepson and daughter. One day, he secretly recorded intimate photos and videos of his stepdaughter bathing and threatened to spread the secret intimate photos and videos on social media if she did not marry him. And the stepdaughter secretly went to court and forced her father to marry Jamal Sheikh. Then, Jamal Sheikh went to Oman, a Middle Eastern country, in 2022. After living abroad for a long time, he came back to the country on vacation in 2023 and started living with his wife (stepdaughter). He recorded his wife's intimate moments. Realizing the matter, his wife (stepdaughter) forbade him from having more than one. But when she did not listen to her prohibition, there was an argument between the two and as a result, he went to his father's house (Rajbari) in anger. Then, when the matter of the mother and daughter's marriage became known, his wife (stepdaughter) divorced Jamal Sheikh through the court in April 2024.
The woman (stepdaughter) said, when these things came to light, I divorced Jamal Sheikh. Then I married a young man from Saturia Upazila. Upon learning about the marriage, Jamal Sheikh got angry and spread intimate videos of the previous marriage through social media and sent them to my husband and family members on their mobile phones. Then, after discussing with my husband, I filed a case against Jamal Sheikh under the Pornography Act at Manikganj Sadar Police Station.
Manikganj Sadar Police Station OC SM Aman Ullah said that the accused stepfather and divorced husband Jamal Sheikh have been arrested in a pornography case.
