Attacks, vandalism, arson and petrol bomb attacks on anti-discrimination student rally in Ghoraghat, Dinajpur A.League Police have arrested leader Tozammel Hossain.
He was arrested from the Kanagari Bazar area of the upazila at around 1 am on Saturday. Arrested Tozammel Hossain (60) is a resident of Ward No. 1 of Bulakipur Union No. 1 of the upazila. A.League Vice President.
According to the case report, a case was filed at the police station on August 24 last year, naming 40 people, including 70-80 unknown people as accused.
Earlier, on August 4 last year, armed leaders and activists of various Awami League organizations attacked a peaceful gathering of students and the public at the bus stand in the city center. During this time, vehicles were vandalized, motorcycles and shops were set on fire. In addition, several petrol bombs were detonated to create panic. Several people were seriously injured in the attack.
Confirming the matter, Ghoraghat Police Station OC Nazmul Haque said, "The arrested person is accused of being involved in attacks, vandalism, arson and petrol bomb attacks on protesters during the anti-discrimination student movement. He has been arrested in connection with these incidents. The arrested accused will be handed over to the court today, Sunday (February 2).
