Md. Dil, Sirajganj
Her name is Jamila Khan, an unmarried woman with no husband and no family. I will tell you the story of Jamila Khatun, a 60-year-old woman. The story is set in a rural village where a helpless old woman is seen in the present era. Jamila Khatun lives in an abandoned, broken hut, with torn polythene, plastic bags and a fence around the house made of broken tin. There is no rice in the house, so the stove does not burn properly. This is how Jamila Khatun, a childless and simple 60-year-old woman from Rajman Nichinpara of Duganagar Union in Ullapara Upazila of Sirajganj, is spending her days with great difficulty, whether she eats or not. She is struggling to make ends meet in the severe winter.
Md. Mostak Sarkar of the local area said, she is an unmarried Jamila Khatun, who is living in a hut at her sister's house because her husband is not married and she is unable to see properly, so she lives without eating a single meal from the people of the village. When no one gives her food, she goes on living without eating even when she gets food. She has a brother and a sister, who also work in small businesses and struggle to run their family. They help as much as they can. But they cannot provide the food and shelter that a person needs to live. Since her brother and sister are in dire need, they cannot provide her with adequate treatment and food. Such a pitiful picture of the worn-out Jawmila Khatun is seen.
When talking to the helpless Jamila Khatun, she said, "I have built a hut in the place where my sister lives. During the monsoon, water pours into the house. It gets cold in the winter. I don't have enough money to build a good house. If I could get a government house somewhere, I wouldn't have any more problems. The house I live in is a hut built on the roof of a person's house. Where can I get a government house? Who will give it to me? Earlier, I used to go from door to door to the member chairman. When my body was good, I used to do people's work, which I used to do with my joints, but now I can't do work anymore and I can't see properly because of cataracts in my eyes. If kind-hearted people cooperated, I could have lived well in my last years. By Allah, I don't have a husband and family because I am not married," Jamila Khatun said in a tearful voice.
Therefore, I appeal to all people with a humanitarian heart to come forward with help and stand by the old woman...
