Due to dense fog, vehicles were plying on the highway with their headlights on. Meanwhile, a head-on collision between two trucks occurred in Joypurhat, where the truck driver, Enamul Haque (35), was killed. The deceased, Enamul Haque, is the son of Mohammad Ali of Academy Nagar Mahall in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahid Hasan confirmed the matter.
The accident took place at around 9:30 am on Sunday (February 2) on the Joypurhat-Bogra highway near the Thushigari (BRAC office) in the Paurshahar area of Kalai upazila. After the collision, the driver of the other truck and his assistant fled. On receiving information, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased driver from the twisted cabin of the truck.
Eyewitnesses and police said that due to dense fog, all vehicles were driving on the highway with their headlights on. At around 9:30 am, two trucks carrying sand and cement collided head-on in front of the BRAC office in Thushigari in the Paurshahar area of Kalai upazila. The front parts of both trucks were twisted and twisted.
After the collision, the driver of the sand-laden truck and his assistant fled, but the driver of the cement-laden truck died after getting stuck in the steering wheel. Upon receiving information, police and fire service personnel arrived and cut open the driver's body.
Kalai Police Station OC Zahid Hossain said the body will be handed over when the family members of the deceased driver come to the police station. If a complaint is received in this incident, the absconding truck driver and his assistant will be brought under the law.
