In the wake of complaints from residents of Alfadanga, the Alphadanga Upazila of Faridpur is facing extreme public suffering due to the closure of the Social Service Officer's office.
The information that Social Service Officer Jhumur Sarkar was not available on the ground when he went to the office at 3 pm last Sunday (January 2) has been confirmed. According to office sources, he joined the new workplace in the Social Service Office on January 19, 2025. Then, he attended the office on January 27 and January 30 on the occasion of the arrival of the Deputy Commissioner. He worked in the office for three days out of 11 working days. It is also known that he joined the 43rd batch BCS as a non-cadre Social Service Officer. Being a Hindu community, he had a special affinity with the people of the fascist government who fled, and he commented with great curiosity that he has become inattentive to his work because he is upset. Victim Marjana Begum came to the office several times to fix her widow's allowance card (MIS 02290015279) and left empty-handed. Another victim, Rahima Khatun, who lost her husband, came to the office day after day and sat there, wiping her tears.
Office assistant cum computer typist Md. Azizur Rahman said, "Sir said he is sick and that is why he sometimes does not come to the office. After you called DD Sir, he called me about this matter. I replied to DD Sir and said that sir did not come to the office."
Upazila Social Services Officer Jhumur Sarkar called the government several times on his mobile phone and texted the HotApps number, but there was no response.
Upazila Executive Officer and President of the Allowance Program Implementation Committee, Russell Iqbal, said, "I have just joined the district office seven days ago and told them that I will look into the matter."
District Social Services Deputy Director ASM Ali Ahsan said, "No leave has been taken from me so far. I came to know through you that I will issue a show cause notice seeking a reply within the next three days. Necessary steps will be taken later. However, if you are sick, you have to take leave. If you want to work, you have to follow government regulations."
