The trees were planted to protect 83 villages around the wetlands of about 10,000 hectares in Tahirpur and Madhanagar upazilas of Sunamganj from the waves of the haor and the water flowing upstream during the monsoon, said the Sunamganj District Administration, which is under the supervision of Tanguar Haor.
