On Saturday, 1/2/2025, around 11 pm, Tasmia Akhter (17), daughter of Shahabuddin Khan (Shukkur) of Maheshpur village of Niamati union of the upazila, hanged herself by hanging herself after her mother forbade her from using mobile phones. Tasmia was taken to Bakerganj Upazila Health Complex in a life-threatening condition and the doctor declared her dead.
