Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council - Chittagong Region initiated the distribution of winter clothes at Shwapon Vidyaniketan in South Surma area of Sylhet district on Friday, 14 February 2025, as part of the nationwide winter clothes distribution program under the patronage of Lion Rupam Kishore Barua, Vice Chairman of Aniruddha Barua Oni Memorial Trust and Confidence Cement Limited, Chief Sponsor and Advisor of Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council.
The fifth program of Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council winter clothing distribution is under the overall management of Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council-Sylhet region and under the overall supervision of Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council-Sylhet region's founding president, prominent organizer, journalist Utfal Barua. The program of distributing blankets among the students of Shponna Vidyanyakan in South Surma area of Sylhet and the cold-stricken people of this region was inaugurated by Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council Sylhet region advisor, Assistant Professor of Gobindaganj Abdul Smriti College Baran Chowdhury. Bangladesh Photojournalist Association Sylhet Divisional Committee General Secretary Md. Nurul Islam was present as the chief guest. Md. Tarek Ahmed, founder of Shponna Vidyanyakan and Sylhet Blood Search Organization, Shelu Barua, Simanto Barua Joy, Setu Barua Mukto, and others were present as special guests.
In addition, the Youth Council has been distributing winter clothes in different areas of the country, standing by people during any disaster including floods, and working for human welfare.
The speakers expressed their gratitude and thanks to the leaders of the Bangladesh Buddhist Youth Council, including Lion Rupam Kishore Barua and Aniruddha Barua, and the Ani Memorial Trust.
