Leaflets of the Teesta River Protection Movement have been distributed under the leadership of Munna, the founding organizing secretary of Rangpur's Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI) Chhatra Dal, demanding a fair share of Teesta water and the immediate implementation of the Teesta Mega Project.
They distributed this leaflet on the university campus on Wednesday (February 12).
When asked about the leaflet distribution at the university, Berobi Chhatra Dal's founding organizing secretary Mursalin Munna said, "The Teesta River is like a lifeline for the northern part of Bangladesh. Its water crisis is having a negative impact on agriculture, biodiversity and people's livelihood. Students are the future of the nation. By joining such a movement, students will be able to learn about the water crisis, transboundary water problems, and the real picture of international diplomacy, which will be helpful for them in state-building in the future. Therefore, the 2-day stay of the students' Teesta Bachao Andolon should be included in the program. That is why today's leaflet distribution of the Teesta River Protection Movement in the university and adjacent areas is aimed at increasing the participation of students in protecting national interests to a greater extent."
Imran Hossain, a student of the Department of Mathematics, said, “We demand a fair share of all international rivers, including the Teesta in Bangladesh, with India, and a sustainable solution to the erosion, flooding, and displacement of the aggressive Teesta. The presence of the students will strengthen the mass base of the movement and attract the attention of the government and the international community.”
Siam Mondal, a student of the Department of Physics, said, "We will not allow the aggression against Teesta to continue. We no longer want the cries of the North. In short, we want to break the Indian aggression." Therefore, to increase the participation of students in this movement, we are distributing leaflets of the Teesta River Protection Movement.
