A mobile court has fined Md. Sobahan Fakir of Khalasi Dangi village of Dheukhali union Tk 50,000 under Section 7(b)(b) of the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act 2010 for illegally cutting soil from the banks of the Arial Khan River in Sadarpur upazila of Faridpur.
Sadarpur Upazila Executive Officer and Magistrate Zakia Sultana conducted a mobile court and imposed the fine on Thursday (February 13) afternoon.
It is known that for a long time, Sobhan Fakir had been driving a dredger along the river bank and selling the soil. He also extracted soil from various canals, berms and water bodies and sold it in different places. There are several complaints against him by the locals.
