A joint student and public gathering has held a coffin procession in Sherpur demanding the banning of the Awami League in Sherpur and the punishment of those responsible for the death of Abul Kashem, an active member of the anti-discrimination student movement, in the attack on the house of former minister A.K.M. Mozammel Haque, as well as demanding justice for the July massacre.
On Wednesday night, February 12, the coffin procession left from Raghunath Bazar Police Station intersection in the city and circled the city. After the procession, a road meeting was held at the police station intersection.
Mamunur Rahman, president of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement District Committee, and other coordinating leaders spoke at the event.
The speakers demanded that the Awami League be banned and those responsible for the July massacre be brought to justice.
They also expressed anger that the accused in the murder case of the martyrs of Sherpur district during the July Revolution have not yet been arrested, demanding their immediate arrest and trial.
