The road leading to the parishad building of Hatibandha Union in Jhenaigati, Sherpur, has not been constructed for 32 years. As a result, the activities of the parishad are being disrupted and the service recipients are suffering immensely.
It is known that the Hatibandha Union Parishad building in Jhenaigati Upazila was constructed in 1992. The building was constructed on the west side of the highway road adjacent to Tetultala Bazar.
Hatibandha Union Parishad Chairman Jahangir Alam and other locals said that former UP member Belal Uddin had given land to build a road leading from the Union Parishad building to the main road; but due to Belal Uddin's disagreement with a former Union Parishad chairman and his dominance, Belal Uddin did not give the land given for the Parishad road and instead built a house on the land in front of the road leading from the Parishad, blocking the way to the Parishad.
Mainly because of this, it has not been possible to build a road to the Parishad Bhaban even after 32 years. This has disrupted all the administrative activities of the Parishad and has caused extreme suffering to the service recipients. The service recipients are not getting the desired services from the Parishad Bhaban. It is known that the administration initially tried to build a road to the Parishad Bhaban, but to no avail.
After that, there was no further activity from the administration. However, it is said that the current Upazila Executive Officer is very sincere about the construction of the road to the Parishad building. He has already held several meetings with officials from almost all departments of the Upazila administration and prominent people of the area in this regard.
Confirming the incident, Upazila Executive Officer Ashraful Alam Russell said that several meetings have already been held in the Union Parishad regarding the construction of the access road. He is optimistic that the road construction will be possible.
