The Amir and Charmonai Pir of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, said, "Allah has given us the ability to field candidates for 300 seats for the Islamic Movement. We should not underestimate the Islamic Movement. When a conspiracy is hatched against Islam and the country, the Islamic Movement raises its voice on the streets in protest, and the hearts of the criminals tremble."
A mass meeting of the Islamic Movement was held in Rangabali, Patuakhali at 5 pm on Tuesday. He made these remarks while addressing the gathering organized at the Rangabali Model Secondary School grounds in the upazila as the chief guest. At the gathering, Charmonai Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim said, 'Those who have governed the country for 53 years have repeatedly deceived us. They have used us as a ladder to come to power. They have not remembered Islam or the Islamic party while sitting in the seat of power. We want no one else to use us so that they cannot destroy Islam. They have never been able to use the Islamic Movement. No one will be able to use us in the future either.'
The rally was held to achieve seven-point demands, including the trial of the massacres committed during the mass revolution of students and the public, the arrest of corrupt officials and confiscation of illegal assets, the declaration of their disqualification from elections, and the election of the National Assembly under the proportional representation (PR) system.
The rally, chaired by the Upazila President (Acting) of the Islamic Movement, Mosaddek Hossain Bachchu Howlader, was addressed by the Patuakhali District General Secretary of the Islamic Movement, Maulana Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Co-Training Secretary Hafez Muhammad Ruhul Amin, former Upazila President Amir Hossain Molla, Upazila General Secretary Hafez Muhammad Abdul Hannan, President of the Islamic Youth Movement, MA Yusuf Ali, Upazila President of the Islamic Students Movement, Hafez Muhammad Salauddin Arian, among others.
