A college student named Tahsin Mehzabin (21) committed suicide by hanging herself.
The deceased, Tahsin Mehjabin, was the daughter of Raihanur Rahman Raihan and Mukta Morsheda, a couple from the Sholaghar residential area of Sunamganj district town. Mukta Morsheda and Raihanur Rahman Raihan divorced about 19 years ago.
Mehazabien committed suicide by hanging herself with a fan at her home on Tuesday evening.
Family sources said that the deceased Mehazabien was preparing to enroll in a degree program after passing her HSC last year.
The deceased Tahsin Mehjabin's younger sister, Jasmine Akhter Tajin, a class 10 student of Sunamganj Government Satish Chandra (SC) Girls' High School, committed suicide by jumping from the Abduz Zahur Bridge in Mallikpur, the city, in March 2023.
The city residents have expressed concern over the suicide of two sisters from the same family two years apart.
Earlier, on March 2, 2023, another female school student, Jasmine Akhter Tajin, died after falling from the Abduz Zahur Bridge in Mallikpur in the city and drowning in the Surma River.
On Wednesday, Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station OC Md. Abul Kalam said that it was not initially known why Mehazabien committed suicide. A case of accidental death has been filed at the police station regarding the suicide.
